Superintendent's Entry Plan

Members of the Wellesley Community,

I am very excited to be joining you as the new Superintendent of the Wellesley Public Schools! The selection process in April and May was a whirlwind and I look forward to spending more in-depth time getting to know the Wellesley community and establishing a shared vision for our schools.  With this in mind, I have developed an entry plan of activities that will allow me to structure my time in the months after I arrive.  This plan includes a significant amount of time devoted to “listening and learning,” as I conduct individual and group interviews with students, staff, parents, School Committee Members, state and town officials and other members of the Wellesley community.  In each of these settings, I will be gathering information about the community itself, what’s working well in our schools, what needs attention, and thoughts about our direction for the future.  My aim in this process is two-fold: First, it is critical for me to better understand the history and current context of the district before engaging in problem-solving and improvement efforts.  Second, establishing and maintaining personal and ongoing channels of communication will be essential to my administration’s leadership moving forward.  By design, this plan is a living document that will continue to be refined in the days ahead, but I hope it provides the community with a sense of my values and how I will approach my entry as the Superintendent of Schools in Wellesley.  If you have any feedback you wish to provide me on this plan, please contact me at david_lussier@wellesley.k12.ma.us.  I welcome your thoughts!

Best regards,

Dr. David Lussier
Superintendent of Schools
